Customer Interviews No. 3

1. Interviewing Strategy: I gave each person the short description of the business idea, and answered any clarification questions. I wanted to make sure they understood the idea fully so they could give accurate thoughts on it. I didn't ask any other questions, because their thoughts tended to answer any other questions I would of asked.

2. Interviews:

3. Reflections: Most people seem to like the idea, which is a good thing considering the main market is college students here. The main concerns were speed of the network and the ads that would be displayed. So both of those would probably need to work well for the venture to be successful.

  2. Hi Matthew! Based on the feedback you're receiving, it sounds like you have a viable opportunity on your hands. From personal experience, I too would support any venture that improves our network's speed, accessibility, and reliability, because to be frank -- it does not seem acceptable for such an outstanding university. In the dorms, where students actually live and expect to do much of their classwork, it should be a staple: this is an important problem that needs to be solved. Bravo to you for uncovering the need and providing a solution! I would link to my 3rd round of interviews, but I did not participate -- but you can find my idea napkin with my solution fleshed out here if you'd like to offer any feedback:

  3. Hi! so I really like this idea! I do currently live off campus but I have lived on campus before and honestly trying to connect to wifi was totally miserable. Granted I don't have perfect wifi here but it is better than what I experienced on campus. This is something I would definitely be interested in and i think it is a really awesome idea to solve the problem! if you wasnt to check out my post here is the link! http://anaksunamoon216.blogspot.com/2016/02/customer-interviews-no-3.html

  4. Hello Matthew, so I actually really like the creativity of you idea! I think any student would agree that the wifi on campus is a joke sometimes, especially when you're required to take an online exam and the connection drops... The only "problem" I see with students completely accepting the idea, would be guaranteeing them that this other network is as secure as the university's; nowadays network security seems to be just as important as the speed of network itself. The advertisements seem reasonable, as long as they're short enough not cause too much of a hindrance to a student's progress, and relevant enough to actually apply to the whole student body.

Missed my 3rd round of interviews, but here's a link to my 2nd round!

  5. Matthew, I like the way you approached your interviews and let each of the interviewees express their thoughts without you interjecting. Overall, I think your idea is a very good one. A new wifi network on campus solely for UF would be great. I think specifically each library should go as far as to have their own wifi networks because those are the particular places I tend to run into wifi problems. I think in your interview approach for the future look into letting the interviewees read the business plan before the interview so they aren't reading it while on camera. Other than that great job, check out my blog http://carolinemurray4343.blogspot.com/2016/02/interviewing-customers-no-3.html
